Loot To Forge Runes: 4 Types, 2 Slots, and the Overwrite

Four runes (Flame, Frost, Poison, Thunder), 2 slots per item, and the overwrite that permanently destroys the old rune. Plus the enchant vs enhance split.

Loot To Forge Runes: 4 Types, 2 Slots, and the Overwrite

Loot To Forge runes come in exactly four kinds — Flame, Frost, Poison and Thunder — and every piece of gear carries two rune slots. You farm them in the Frostbound Tower, which unlocks at your second Rebirth, and socket them at the Enchant station in the hub. Each slot holds one rune. Overwriting a filled slot destroys the rune already sitting in it, permanently, with no refund and no confirmation step most players notice. Pulling a rune out instead costs 1K Coins. Runes themselves are not sold for Robux.

Runes are not enhancements, despite what the videos say

Almost every guide video uses the word "enchant" for both systems. They are different things, and confusing them costs materials you cannot get back.

Enchant (runes) Enhance (+levels)
What it changes Fills the 2 rune slots on an item Raises the item to +1 and beyond
Main material Enchantment Stone (runes themselves) Ember Stone
Coin cost Socketing price is not published; removal is 1K Coins Charged on every attempt, on top of the stones
Where Enchant station in the hub A single Enhance station in the middle of the lobby
Can stack with the other Yes Yes

The same item can hold runes and an enhance level at the same time. Nothing about socketing a rune resets your +N, and nothing about pushing a +level removes your runes.

Official source: +1 Loot To Forge on Roblox — the only official surface Good Bro Studio maintains; each update announcement overwrites its description rather than accumulating in a changelog.

One more naming trap that costs people real time: the Enhance material is called Ember Stone, and auto-generated subtitles routinely write it as "amber stone". Amber is a separate ore with its own sell price, and the rune drop item has its own name again.

The four runes and what each one actually does

The four types are confirmed by two independent source families, and so is the direction each one pushes your damage. The numbers behind them are a different story.

Rune Effect direction What is published
Flame Damage-over-time style status effect Direction only, no numbers
Poison Damage-over-time style status effect Direction only, no numbers
Frost Slows the target on hit, which makes circle-strafing far easier Direction only, no numbers
Thunder Extra damage on hit; the community's first pick in a slot Direction confirmed, one disputed number

Two independent sources put Thunder at the top of the list, but that is consensus rather than a measurement — nobody has compared the four at the same tier. The one number in the public record is Thunder's proc, and it arrives in two versions from the same site family, which do not corroborate each other:

Reading Thunder Rune effect Source quality
Version A On hit, a 5% chance to strike lightning for 10% of your current attack Community-observed, single source
Version B The rune deals 5% of your current attack Community-observed, same family, different page

Neither is verified in game. Version A is the more widely repeated one, and it pairs with a crit-heavy build because a Skeleton race's crit rate multiplies the hit that rolls the proc.

Do not plan a build around the 5% or 10% figure

They differ by a factor of two on the same mechanic, from the same site, on different pages. If Thunder is central to your setup, read the tooltip in game before spending Coins on removal.

Frost earns its slot for a different reason than Thunder, and the reason is the tower: Shift Lock does not work inside it, so a slow on hit is what makes the manual circle-strafe loop survivable.

Rune tiers: I, II and III

Runes carry a roman-numeral tier read straight off the item. This mapping comes from a single source family, so treat it as community-observed until someone cross-checks it in game.

Tier Name as written in game Notes
I UnCommon Lowest tier, the most common floor drop
II Rare Middle tier
III Epic Highest tier recorded

The capital C in "UnCommon" is how the game spells it. No source publishes what each tier does differently, so higher tier is a reasonable assumption and not a confirmed multiplier.

Two slots, and the overwrite that kills your rune

This is the part that actually loses people gear, and it is the one warning two independent source families both chose to write down.

Socket a rune into a slot that already holds one and the old rune is destroyed for good. There is no duplicate protection, no trash inventory, no way to get it back. With only two slots per item, an unlucky overwrite leaves you one slot down with no recovery except another tower run.

The safe alternative is removal, which pulls the rune out intact for 1K Coins. That figure is community-observed from a single source, so treat it as a ballpark. It matters anyway: if you hold a Frost rune you want to keep and you want a Thunder in that slot, you pay removal rather than overwriting, and that cost is the only number in this system that protects you.

Two further details, both thinner than the warning above:

  • Legendary, Mythic and Eternal gear is what carries the two slots. The rarity gate is community-observed, from one family only.
  • Whether the Enchant and Enhance stations are two lobby props or two menus on one prop is not something any source settles. The game treats them as separate coin sinks.

Where the runes come from: one Frostbound Tower run

Runes drop inside the Frostbound Tower, a side instance next to the main stage list, not from the linear stages. It is a timed wave-survival instance of 30 rounds, grouped six ways in fives, and each entry costs one Tower Ticket. The gate is your second Rebirth.

Tower segment Runes listed in the drop table Other drops Confidence
Rounds 1-5 Flame, Frost, Poison, Thunder Coin, Magma Cluster, Abyssal Blue Community-observed, single family
Rounds 6-25 Not captured Not captured No source has a full list
Rounds 26-30 Flame, Frost, Poison, Thunder Coin, Yeti-Claw, Glac-Box Confirmed by two families

All four rune types appear in both the opening and closing segments, so a first run through the tower is enough to see everything the system has. Whether higher rounds shift the mix toward one type is undocumented.

Runes are not guaranteed. Each floor is a chance drop, and players have recorded two consecutive Uncommon rolls followed by an empty floor. Treat a run as a lottery ticket rather than a farm rate.

Two tower rules change how the run plays, and both of them decide whether a rune build is worth bringing:

  • No auto-target and no auto-attack inside the tower, with an on-screen warning. You aim every hit yourself.
  • No Shift Lock inside the tower, the opposite of the main stages. Circle-strafing works, but it is manual.

That is why Frost is worth a slot: you cannot lock your facing and you cannot let the game pick your target, so a slow on hit keeps you hitting a faster enemy without being caught. One recorded run reached round 28 in 1 minute 56 seconds on 33 kills, another round 29 in 1 minute 34 seconds on 15 kills.

Bank runes before you start socketing

Because overwriting is permanent and the only confirmed defense is paying 1K Coins to remove a rune, the cheapest play is to hoard a few of each type first. Two tower runs give you enough of all four to experiment with.

The store does not sell runes

We pulled the live developer product list for this game and cross-checked it against the live game record. It returns 84 products, and not one of them is a rune, a rune pack, or an enchant product of any kind.

Purchase Price Created What it actually gives you
Tower Ticket Pack 1 49 R$ 2026-09-16 Tower entries, which is the only way to buy your way toward runes
Tower Ticket Pack 2 199 R$ 2026-09-16 Same
Tower Ticket Pack 3 1,199 R$ 2026-09-16 Same
Tower Ticket Pack 4 4,999 R$ 2026-09-16 Same
Any rune product Does not exist — —

Spending Robux gets you faster tower entry, never a guaranteed rune. Coins are what matter, because the Enchant station, the Forge and the Enhance station all draw from them, and Coins come from selling ore at the sell stall.

What is still unconfirmed

Honest gaps, listed so you do not build a plan on top of them:

  • The price to socket a rune, and whether a separate rune shop exists. Removal at 1K Coins is the only number we have. If you find a socketing cost in game, it is genuinely new information.
  • Whether socketed runes survive a Rebirth. Rebirth keeps your weapons, helmets and chest armor, so the gear is safe, but no source states it for runes specifically. Check before a reset.
  • Whether the four rune types scale identically across tiers I, II and III.
  • The middle tower segments, rounds 6 through 25, have no published drop list.
  • The four-hit retreat rule that governs the main stages has no confirmed tower equivalent, and Shift Lock being disabled changes how it would apply.

Good Bro Studio publishes no patch notes, no changelog and no developer Discord. The developer group page carries nothing on runes, so every figure above is either read off the live Roblox API or observed by players.

FAQ

What are the runes in Loot To Forge? Four types: Flame, Frost, Poison and Thunder. Flame and Poison are damage-over-time style effects, Frost slows the target on hit, and Thunder adds damage on hit. The directions are confirmed by multiple sources; the numbers are not published.

How do I get runes? From the Frostbound Tower, unlocked at your second Rebirth. Each run costs one Tower Ticket and lasts 30 rounds. Drops are per-floor chances, not guaranteed, and all four types appear in both the opening and closing segments.

How many runes can one item have? Two. Community reports point to Legendary, Mythic and Eternal gear as what carries both slots.

What happens if I put a new rune on top of an old one? The old rune is permanently destroyed, with no refund. Removing it instead costs 1K Coins, which is the only protection the game gives you.

Are runes and enhancement the same thing? No. Enchant fills rune slots with Flame, Frost, Poison or Thunder. Enhance raises an item to +1 and beyond using Ember Stones and Coins. Every video calls both enchanting, which is where the confusion comes from. One item can carry both at once.

Can I buy runes with Robux? Not directly. The game has 84 developer products and none is a rune product. The closest purchase is a Tower Ticket pack, which buys more entries into the tower.
